23 July 2023.

On June 21st, professionals gathered at the East Coast Regional Office in Napier to experience an evening of networking and growth at the BA5 event hosted by the Ministry of Social Development (MSD). The event aimed to showcase the extensive range of services offered by MSD.

The attendees had the opportunity to learn about the remarkable efforts of MSD during Cyclone Gabrielle in Hawke's Bay and engage with professionals to exchange business experiences and insights.

During the BA5 event, participants discovered a wealth of employment-related services and opportunities offered by MSD. Regional Commission Karen Bartlett introduced attendees to employer wage subsidies and informed about the newly established Jobs and Skills Hub in HB, which focuses on supporting infrastructure, construction employment, apprenticeships, and training. This information provided attendees with valuable resources for their businesses and career development.

Notably, Bianca Levick, the Business Connector at the Chamber of Commerce, was present at the event. Her newly created position aimed to assist businesses with funding and training opportunities, as well as upskilling and acquiring new staff. Attendees had the chance to connect with Bianca and explore the various ways she could support their growing businesses.

As an added incentive, attendees had the opportunity to win a Family Portrait Package valued at up to $400. It was announced during the event that Pip Thompson from Napier City Business was the fortunate winner of the Family Portrait Package. This prize provided a chance to capture timeless memories for Pip and their loved ones.

The event was not only informative and beneficial but also enjoyable in terms of culinary delights. The food catered by Whole In The Wall Catering was delicious and fresh, enhancing the overall experience for the attendees.

The BA5 event with MSD proved to be an inspiring and rewarding evening for all who attended. By connecting with key players from the business, government, and training provider sectors, participants gained valuable insights, expanded their networks, and discovered potential collaborations and opportunities for business growth. The event successfully achieved its goal of fostering networking and growth in the business community while showcasing the range of services offered by MSD.

Thank you to all who attended. See you at the next BA5 on 19 July, hosted by ASB at their Regional Office in Napier.
