BARBARA ARNOTT

The business awards connect the community of Hawke’s Bay through recognition of organisations from Wairoa through Napier, Hastings, and Central Hawke’s Bay.

Creating a connected community is something our 2022 leader of the year has spent her life working for. She is known for creating good relationships throughout the Hawke’s Bay Region and has a long history of community-focused work in Hawke’s Bay.

One of her many successes as Mayor of Napier for 12 years was connecting Hawke’s Bay with her vision of the Rotary Pathways which she helped turn into reality.

She has a strong passion for education and creating an educated community. She started AC Consulting, an education training organisation that focused on governance and management training with her business partner Jenny Courtney.

She continues to contribute to the Hawke’s Bay community through both elected and voluntary roles. These include the Chair of Hawke’s Bay Historic Places Trust, Trustee of Napier Rotary Pathways Trust, Trustee of Te Matau A Maui Heath Trust, and Trustee of the Art Deco Trust and Trustee of the Hawke’s Bay Power Consumers’ Trust

With all her roles she focuses on bringing the right people on board. Being the right person comes easy when there is a strong, fair, and affirming person in the leadership position.
