Cyclone & Flood Response Fund
Applications for this fund closed on 3rd April 2023; applications received prior to this date have been assessed according to our usual process of prioritising significantly impacted businesses. In line with government requirements for this fund, we are unable to accept new applications.

Further support
There may be other organisations who can help with financial hardship, here are a few examples of support available:
- To apply for loss of income if you can’t/couldn’t work and won’t get paid, go to a MSD service centre or call 0800 400 100.
- Tax relief for adverse and emergency events (ird.govt.nz)
North Island Weather Events Loan Guarantee Scheme
The Scheme supports the provision of Scheme loans to viable businesses. It encourages banks, non-bank deposit takers (non-banks) and non-deposit-taking lenders to lend with favourable terms, including reduced interest rates, by the Government taking up to 80% of the loan’s default risk. Scheme supported loans are available until 30 June 2024, for a maximum of 5 years from the date of issue.
Fund for commercial entities removing silt and debris
This fund closed on 31st August 2023. Funding was distributed by Hawke's Bay Regional Council. If you need support with the application process please get in touch through 0800 108 838 or info@hbrc.govt.nz.
Support for farmers and growers
Support from the Ministry for Primary Industries for farmers, growers and whenua Māori owners closed on 3rd April 2023. Applicants can either apply to the MPI fund OR the Cyclone & Flood Recovery Grant fund.
North Island Weather Events Primary Producer Finance Scheme
The Scheme was open for applications and Expressions of Interest for 6 weeks, from 31 July to 8 September 2023. Kānoa is currently evaluating Expressions of Interest and Applications received. For queries related to this scheme, get in touch with Kānoa here.
